Children arrive. Coats and outdoor shoes are left in the ladies’ cloakroom. Each child is supplied with a name card which should be placed in the pockets provided. Children and parents wait in the foyer of the hall until the session starts. Under no circumstances should children be left unattended. The session is structured as follows:

 

Registration: Children enter the hall and sit on the mat for registration. During registration an adult will remain at the doors until a staff member secures the door and sets the alarm.

 
Showing time: Children are encouraged to show items from home relating to the current topic. This is done in rotation by keyworker group.

 
Small group time: Children are encouraged to take part in an ability related planned activity with a specific learning outcome.

 
Free play The children have the opportunity to choose from a variety of activities.

 
Story time: Stories are chosen to fit in with the planned curriculum. Children are also encouraged to share books from home to suit the topics.

 
Snack time: Children sit in key worker groups and are provided with milk. Children are asked to bring in a healthy snack from home, staff can provide details on what is appropriate. Children may bring their own drink if preferred. All drinks and snacks should be clearly labelled.

 
Large group time: The whole group take part in a planned exercise from a range of activities e.g. parachute, bikes, bats and balls, music and soft play.

 
Home time: Parents wait in the foyer. Children will be called in turn to go home by a member of staff.
